Week 806 - Fairly Lucky - 01-23-2022

Fairly Lucky

This weekend we had nice visit with Mario, our new son-in-law. Melissa and Mario were both coming to visit us at Palm Creek RV in Casa Grande. However, their blind and deaf dog, Cava, was hit by a car and Melissa stayed home to care for her. Was it awkward to just have Mario? "au contraire", He is delightful. We hosted Mario in the MotherShip living room. He wanted to sponsor our lunch. So we set out for the Big House Cafe. It is a small restaurant with big meals.

We had a wonderful meal and to our surprise we exited into the 21st Annual Casa Grande Street Fair.

The fair began in 2001. Ellen sets out to visit some of the 500+ exhibits.

The fair has everything from A to Z. Here are bracelets, baskets and bowls. Behind the bowls we noticed the mural, not part of the fair.

We snuck behind the booths to get these snapshots.

Clothing? Shirts, skirts and tie dye.

Ellen checks out the cutting board and cutlery.

Pets: Leashes, grooming or bring your own pet alligator.

The art area was huge.

1) Metal magnetic signs with your name or your favorite team.
2) Anyone want a large, metal, artsy thingamabob or thingamajig.

These fish-eye photo disks are beautiful, not sure where you put them. Maybe next to some more thingamajigs.

Get your cactus here! Life sized or as wall hangings. These paintings are beautiful. We couldn't help but notice than our son Andrew's artwork will rival these.

Many service groups were present. Health, Christian Motorcycle Association and more booths. We are not sure how many exhibits there were, this is the highest number we saw.

Bands were playing (or on break) on both Saturday and Sunday while people ate.

There were dozens of places to eat and drink. The second photo was a two-for; Barrio Brewing and "long bikes" on display.

A big part of the fair is the car and bike show. A hundred of the exhibits were the bikes and cars.

2nd Street was lined with vehicles for as far as you could see. A 57 Chevy is always a favorite as are the big and little trucks.

1) The 1968 Bronco was really tricked out with a big Chevy engine and more. 2) Or you could spend tens of thousands of dollars to jack your car. 3) The bike section was small with big bikes.

This 1955 Chevy is similar to Pete's first car. Just close the hood to hide the chrome and paint it sky blue.

Ellen's first car was a high performance 1968 Pontiac Firebird black convertible.

So we had a good visit, a good lunch and got Fairly lucky. And oh yeah, in one day, we squeezed in conversation, lunch, the fair, pickelball, a game of Oh Hell, the hot tub and happy hour. Other than that, it was a boring day. Mario, thanks for coming.

With love, Pete, Ellen and Mandy
